Dining Room Phase 1

Saturday, April 29, 2017

Dan picked up all the wood for my bed last night! His poor struck was a squatting good!

The plan was to build it today but we have some heavy rain and thunder so that's not likely to happen.

My punishment for messing up my coffee this morning and going to Starbucks to get one...they messed it up too!

Dinner! Stake, potato pancakes, bacon smoked corn and jalapeno picked egg!

We had lots of adventures yesterday, the puppy and I.

The morning started off with us heading to the vets' office. Georgia has been sneezing for the past few days but otherwise acting normal. She was coming up on her annual appointment so we came in to get a check up and make sure it's really allergies and not a cold. The vet (not our usual one) commented on her energy like a tweaked out coffee hound! She clearly had her morning coffee! Then proceeded to love her and give her treats from the counter!!! She checked out fine and we left with some Antihistamines. Vet said "I'd be curious if it stops for the summer and comes back next spring" Seasonal allergies! Poor thing.

From there we came home to a box of new toys and treats that I had just ordered Sunday! Chewy.com is crazy awesome! Not to mention cheaper than getting it from a pet store! Ah the beauty of warehouse space! We got a HUGE ball on a rope which Georgia proceeded to kill. Running around the house with it in tow bouncing off the walls. It was priceless even though I  had to keep picking up strings from all over the house! She also got some fun new treats in duck, venison and salmon. She's not spoiled at all!!! >.>

As she killed her rope ball I worked on making cinnamon rolls. At this point normal/plain cinnamon rolls. When the dough was rising I hauled the puppy from her toy into the bath tub. Not her favorite place. She enjoyed the scrubbing if not the water so we managed then I let her out in the wonderful 70 degree sun to dry. With the dough ready to punch down I added the remainder of my flour and a goodly amount of coco powder. XD Yum! Split the dough, rolled out the first half, spread the goodies inside, rolled, cut and placed in a pan for the morning. Then did the same for the second half, stopping at after I rolled it to wrap it up for the freezer and later enjoyment!

I did some planning for the farmers' market. I have a few things to print, a few things to buy and a lot to make. [luckily that's not for a few weeks yet] A lot of money will be spent before I go onto maternity leave. Sadly an unpaid maternity leave. Cross your fingers this year I nail the market!

I had to do some corrections on a clients catalog. Man do I feel horrible! This baby brain is gonna get me fired!

I ordered the wood for my garden bed. Once that comes and gets installed I'll be ordering a load of compost dirt from the farm down the road. [I should apply for a job there] Then it should be warm enough to plant my babies! At least the tomatoes. Corn has to stay safe till June....except they are happy on the deck right now so I might just plant them too! Seems like my butternut squash seeds were all duds. Nothing growing there so It's good that the Acorn I got in trade are doing so well! The eggplant haven't sprouted either! Sigh. Not a lot of luck this year in my garden. Once the mini greenhouse is empty I'll try these guys again. Oh and my cucumbers are super happy!

Today: Work this morning, take care of puppy dog after lunch, trade my car for the truck then head back down south to meet Amanda who is helping me move my things out of moms' house. Maybe get some mowing in after lunch before I meet Amanda...if not I have to mow Friday after work or tomorrow.

Why you taking my picture mom?

Any more treats up there?

More weekend adventures! Dan has finished the soffit!

As you can see by the first few images the previous soffit was ugly and falling down. The previous owner had known this for some time now. Evident in the 2 giant screws we found holding parts of it up.

We tore down the old and put up some wooden boards then drilled holes for recessed lights and a motion censer! One of the neighbors came over and teased us. Asked if I was drilling holes in the husbands' hands. [ I was up on the latter (in a skirt no less, though girded) pushing the drill as hard as I can and failing to punch through the wood] Sadly I was only millimeters away from doing it. Dan came down and one push was done. >.>

So with all the nice hot sun I decided to brew some sun tea! I have here a traditional black tea and a raspberry green tea. Both can be purchased from Iron Shot Cafe. They will come loose in baggies or tins.

Aside from the awesome sun tea I went around the house and took down some of the closet doors. The one by the front door just blocks our tiny entry way. I really wish to blow out the wall but Dan doesn't even want to know what's in it! The one in the kids room is just pointless so it came down too. All their hardware is bagged up and put away and the doors themselves stored in the basement.

No gardening news since I didn't play outside. Though my cucumbers broke ground yesterday and the rest today! So Lots of cucumbers to go around. I might give them to coworkers or Heidi to sell at under Middle Earth Plants.

I've a few things to get ready for the farmers market this year. I'm crossing my fingers. A few signs and some packaging requirements. I want it to look presentable as well as be delicious. I would love to start selling my coffee soon but sadly that can't happen until I get a trailer. Anyone wish to donate?!!!!

Oh! I'll be making personalized cups soon! & cute cards that are all coffee/baking related for the market and online!

Sun teas in the making
This does happen. Now to make it easier to get on my cards.

Our house is only 10 years old. We shouldn't be having these problems!

If the outlet gets jarred (like I did sweeping) it kills the power to our lights (both inside & the front porch). Serious fire hazard!

We got a new tool to play with. I can get all my logos cut on vinyl & make stickers and Dan can make crazy accents for the toys.

It turns out that I have prophetic dreams! I can’t go into detail just yet as my sister wants to have a gender reveal at my baby shower. All I can say is that I dreamed a while ago that I was nursing a wee bairn of a specific sex!

Now, on to gardening news! I have potted the remainder of my seeds save about 10 corn seeds. Giving them a wee bit of a head start. I opted to plant 2 of my brand new from trade acorn squash. Amanda just loves them so we’ll see. These when I put them out shall go at the feet of my Cherokee corn which I planted out into the south bed with my lavender. A bit early for both but as long as the animals leave them be they should come up on their own in about a month. Earlier even since it’s a very warm protected spot up against the house.

The other 2 squash are butternut since I love them and they store well. I started cucumber (4), eggplant (a bunch of seeds since they are older and I’m not sure they’ll germinate.), and I forgot until now but I don’t have pumpkin seeds! O.o How am I gonna grow pumpkin if I ain’t got seeds? Maybe I’ll buy a plant when I’m ready to plant.

The sun was nice and hot if the wind was chilly so it was a decent day to do all this outside. My mini greenhouse lid took a flight but withstood it’s crash landing well. My lavender I started in my greenhouse doesn’t seem to be sprouting so I’m worried. A bit more worried about the ones I planted out.
Babies!

House projects I have forgotten to document:

Dan ran his air hose from the basement to the garage. It’s less likely to wake me or him up if we have a flat tire in the morning but it’s still loud if you’re in the kitchen.

After in garage

Next up:  babies room, soffit & raised garden bed.

Did some experimenting last night with my favorite chocolate cookie! Turned out great the first time!

Then this morning after rushing out of the house thinking I was late, only to turn around about 5 miles out once I realized I was an hr and a half early;  I baked orange cinnamon rolls and made myself a well deserved coconut milk latte!
